TOLEDO | Mitch Atkins twirls a gem and seven of the first eleven batters reach base with a hit.
It is a pretty good way to pick up the fifth win on an eight-game swing through Ohio.
The Syracuse Chiefs, behind Opening Day Starter Atkins’ six scoreless two-hit innings, rolled over the Toledo Mud Hens, 7-0, to end their road trip, 5-3.
Erik Arnesen came in and gave up three hits in three innings of relief to complete the shutout as the Chiefs have shutouts in five of their 22 wins this season.
Atkins improved to 4-3 with a 3.07 ERA in the win. Taking out Opening Day, Atkins has a 21-9 Strikeout to Walk ratio. He also has three-straight quality starts.
Corey Brown led the way with five RBI, three coming on a home run, but more on him below. Xavier Paul and Brett Carroll both hit doubles as the eight of the Chiefs nine starters had at least one hit.

There must be something to getting your own “watch.”
For the third straight day, Corey Brown hit a home run.
I am a staunch John Sterling, ahem, disliker, but lets surmise what a Corey Brown home run call would be for the warbler:
Downtown Corey Brown
Get out of Town Corey Brown
That’s Big Apple Corey Brown
No Clownin’ Around it’s Corey Brown
The ball belongs to the seats, but the homer belongs to the Core
Corey anything but Light
Core Temperature Rising
A Core-us Line
How about now? Brown, Holy Cow.
