ROCHESTER | Jayson Werth leading off and Zach Duke losing. It was an odd day in Triple-A.
As the major league outfielder continued to mend, the International League wins leader suffered just his fifth loss of the season as the Rochester Red Wings beat the Syracuse Chiefs, 5-3.
Duke went seven innings and gave up 10 hits and five runs (four earned) as he struck out three. He threw 87 pitches with 62 strikes.
Werth walked twice in an 0-for-3 night from the No. 1 hole. It was the first two times that Werth has reached base in Syracuse.
Seth Bynum drove in his 31st run of the season with a sacrifice fly.
