SYRACUSE | Momentum in baseball, as the saying goes, is as good as tomorrow’s starting pitcher.

The Syracuse Chiefs ran into hot Mets prospect Matt Harvey and got to him for a pair of runs, but fell to Buffalo, 5-2, on Wednesday.

The Bison, held to four hits last night, had three triples in the win as the No. 2 lineup in the International League flexed some muscle.

Record, Standings: 10-16, 5.5 GB

Nationals headline of the day: Desmond wins it with a walk-off, Harper 3-for-4 with a pair of doubles

Next Game: May 3 at Buffalo (N.Y. Mets), 6:05 p.m.

Line of the Day: Carlos Rivero, 3B - 2-for-4, 2B, RBI

The third baseman is doing just what his manager was asking for earlier this week.

Batting over .500 the past week, Rivero has plugged a much needed batting hole for Syracuse and continued to produce on Wednesday.

He leads the Chiefs in batting right now (.307) as his average has jumped from .245 on April 25.

Of note, the Chiefs bullpen combined for 4.2 innings of shutout two-hit ball.
