SYRACUSE | When we do miss Chiefs games...we miss them for good reason.
With the national high school boys lacrosse wins record being tied in town, well, we had to bail. Lacrosse carries some weight around these parts.
A pitching duel between Yunesky Maya and Justin Germano went into the eighth as Ryan Lavarnway won it with a ninth-inning home run for Pawtucket.
The three singles against Germano was a infinite improvement (statistically speaking) from the perfect game that he threw against Syracuse last season.

Record, Standings: 3-9, 6.5 GB
Nationals headline of the day: Gio Gonzalez has yet to be scored up in Nationals’ Park
Next Game: April 18, vs. Pawtucket, 6 p.m.
Line of the Day: Yunesky Maya - 7.1 IP, 4 H, 0 R, 2 BB, 3 K (2.60 ERA, 5 ER, 17.1 IP in 3 Starts)
Taking out his rough second start at Lehigh (4 IP, 5 ER), Maya hasn't allowed a run in his other two starts. Take out that loss to the IronPigs and he has allowed 8 hits in 13.1 innings.
Opponents are hitting .177 against him thus far even with the misstep in Pennsylvania.
The Cuban import was 1-1 with five starts in 10 appearances last year in Washington.
Harper-watch: Harper wasn’t around for last season’s perfect game against the Chiefs.
He wasn’t intimidated in the fifth inning as he set the table again. He moved all the way to third base, but was stranded there in the best Chiefs scoring chance of the night.
Harper was 1-for-4 with a strikeout.
Moore-Watch: Moore was back at first base and had another hit to extend his hitting streak to eight games on Tuesday.
He kept the longest Chiefs' streak of the season going despite a certain reporter trying to jinx him the night before by bringing it up.
Moore was 1-for-4 with two strikeouts.
