The Wells College women’s lacrosse team had trouble beating the Hartwick College defense Saturday in Aurora. The Express managed one goal on in its 12-1 loss to the Hawks.
Sarah Allen was the only Wells player to find the back of the net.
While the offense struggled, Liz Barclay took charge in net making 12 saves in an attempt to keep the Express close.
The Hawks took a 9-0 lead into halftime with seven different scorers.
The Hartwick offense slowed its pace in the second, but it was already too late for Wells.
With the loss, the Express falls to 6-8 on the year and clinched a four seed in the North Atlantic Conference West Division.
Wells will travel to Keuka Park to face the top seed Keuka College Saturday.
