The Cayuga County-area hockey rivalry will have to wait.

Due to weather conditions, Friday's high school hockey game between Auburn and Skaneateles, slated for 7 p.m. at the Skaneateles YMCA, was postponed.

No makeup date has been announced.

The Lakers and Maroons were set to meet for the second time this season, after Auburn (8-2-1) defeated Skaneateles (7-2) 6-5 Nov. 22 at Casey Park. The meeting matched up the two conference leaders in Section III, Division II — both the Lakers and Maroons are 6-0 in divisional play this season.

Hockey wasn't only one local high school event to suffer a postponement due to the weather — all sporting events Friday and Saturday for the Auburn, Cato-Meridian, Jordan-Elbridge, Moravia, Port Byron, Skaneateles, Union Springs and Weedsport school districts for Friday and Saturday were canceled.
