The Auburn Doubledays scored seven runs in the top of the first, and cruised to a 12-1 win over the State College Spikes at Lubrano Park Monday.
Carlos Lopez led the first inning charge, and plated three runs with a double. He finished the game 3-for-4.
All nine Doubledays registered at least one hit, eight scored at least once and seven drove in one or more runs.
Shawn Pleffner went 3-for-5 with a walk, a solo home run, two runs scored and an RBI. Estarlin Martinez added a pair of doubles and two RBI, with Carlos Alvarez and Mike McQuillan each adding a hit and driving in two runs.
Wes Schill and Brandon Miller each collected a pair of hits. Miller tripled and scored twice.
Doubledays starter Pedro Encarnacion surrendered one hit through four shutout innings, but the Spikes broke through with a run in the fifth. The right-hander threw six innings, allowing two hits and one earned run for his first win on the road this season.
Jack McGeary tossed two hitless innings, giving up a pair of walks and striking out three. Bryan Harper surrendered one hit in the final inning, but struck out a pair of batters.
The Spikes used five pitchers, with starter Jason Creasy receiving the loss. In 2-3 of an inning, he allowed five earned runs on a pair of hits and walks.
With second-place Batavia's game at Mahoning Valley being rained out, Auburn is now 2.5 games ahead in the Pinckney Division. The Doubledays continue their 10 game road trip to end the regular season with another game against the Spikes Tuesday.
