Kaleb Cook posted a double-double with 26 points and 11 rebounds, as the Auburn boys basketball team topped Ithaca 80-70 on Thursday in the consolation game of the "More Than A Game" Tournament at Onondaga Community College.

Majesty Wilder contributed 20 points and eight assists. Shaheed Beal chipped in with 12 points and Evan Donovan added 11 points.

It was a close game in the first quarter, Auburn started pressing in the second and outscored Ithaca 28-19 to take the lead for good.

Auburn (5-3) next plays at home on Wednesday against Jamesville-DeWitt.


Baldwinsville 4, Auburn 1: Brendan Williams scored the Maroons’ lone goal at the 13:58 mark of the second period off assists from Johnny Malandruccolo and Jake Morin.

Goaltender Jack Kalabanka played all three periods and made 38 saves for Auburn against the Bees.

The Maroons (7-2-1) travel to Whitesboro on Thursday.



Cortland Winter Classic: The Union Springs/Port Byron boys indoor track and field team won four events. 

Braden York took first in the 3200m run (10:39.49), and Flynn Anderson placed first in the 55m hurdles (8.25). Eric Ryan, Chris Smith, Ajani Huff and Jon Jackson won the sprint medley relay (3:54.52), while Tad Patterson, Ryan, York and Jackson were first in the distance medley relay (12:12.68).

Patterson placed second in the 600m (1:36.91), while Jackson was second in the high jump (5-4). Jakob Dillon came in third in the 55m hurdles (9.14) and Chris Smith came in fourth in the 300m dash (39.49). Ben York was fourth in the 1000m run (3:07.92) and the 1600m run (5:11.92)m while Ajani Huff was fourth in the high jump (5-0) and fifth in the 300m dash (39.60).

The Union Springs/Port Byron girls had five top five finishes.

Rebecca Colgan, Joan Hodges, Allayna Dillon and Haley Yorkey placed second in the distance medley relay (14:50.77). Jodie Jenkin came in second in the high jump (4-6), while Gabi Balog, Jenkin, Hannah Bedell and Colgan were third in the sprint medley relay (5:01.31).

Yorkey placed fourth in the 100m run (3:34.40), and Joan Hodges finished fifth in the 600m (2:02.10).


Cato-Meridian 71, Marion 44: Trevor Lunkenheimer was the leader for the victors, recording 27 points by sinking 12 field goals. Three other players reached double digits for Cato-Meridian, as Isiah Swann and Justin Donnelly both totaled 11 points while Trent Lunkenheimer finished with 10 points. Alec Cady added eight.

Bishop Grimes 83, Auburn 69: The Maroons were downed in the opening round of the "More Than A Game" Tournament at Onondaga Community College.

Auburn cut its deficit to six points in the fourth quarter but couldn't come any closer.

Majesty Wilder paced Auburn with a 22-point night while Evan Donovan and Kaleb Cook both chipped in with 16 points. Shaheed Beal led the Maroons defensively and scored eight points on the offensive end.
