Abbie Izzo scored six goals and three assists, as the Auburn girls lacrosse team won at East Syracuse-Minoa 16-6 on Thursday night.

Natalie Calandra-Ryan contributed with five goals. Bianca Giacona added a pair of goals and a pair of assists, and Kate Izzo scored two goals.

Marguerite Cuddy chipped in with a goal and an assist and Sam Dixon and Emma Solomon each added an assist.

Lexy Driscoll made fives in goal and Quinn Brady had a save. Jillian Alberici had 13 draw controls for the Maroons.

Auburn is now 3-1 and next plays Saturday at Fulton.

COLLEGE FOOTBALL

Weedsport graduate Mike Chirco was one of 23 Western New England University athletes inducted into the Chi Alpha Sigma National College Honor Society Wednesday.

The society recognizes students that receive a varsity letter and display leadership while maintaining a 3.4 or higher grade point average through their junior or senior year. Candidates also need an endorsement from their head coach to be of good moral character.

Chirco, a junior linebacker who is majoring in sport management, led the Golden Bears with 85 total tackles and was a three-time conference defensive player of the week last fall.

GIRLS TRACK AND FIELD

Weedsport 81, Port Byron 60: Ashley Wightman and Cassi Carroll both won two events to pace the Warriors past the Panthers.

Wightman placed first in the 100m dash (13.0) and 400m dash (1:06.7), while Carroll took first in the triple jump (27-7) and high jump (4-6). Among Weedsport's other winners were Natalie Mogavero in the 800m run (2:52), Mariah Quigley in the 200m dash (29.2), Tiana Kreydatus in the discus throw (61-0.50) and Alena Manchester in the pole vault (6-6).

The Warriors also won two relays. Quigley, Wightman, Mikhayla Brown and Haley Van Luven finished the 4x100m relay in 55.6, while Quigley, Wightman, Carroll and Brown won the 4x400m relay in 4:44.

For Port Byron, Nadia Edley won the 100m hurdles (17.8) and long jump (12-10), Alli Ryan was first in the 1500m run (5:58), Sydney Wise took first in the 400m hurdles, Chelsea Rooker claimed the 3000m run (13:20) and Mandy Aldrich had the best distance in the shot put (26-4).

East Syracuse-Minoa 110, Auburn 31: Gabrielle Wagner was first in the 800m run (2:46.2) and Kayleandra White won the discus throw (72-0). Wagner, Mia Picciano, Grace Morgan and Bohdana Colopelnic combined to finish first in the 4x800m relay (11:34.5).

BOYS TRACK AND FIELD

East Syracuse-Minoa 82, Auburn 59: The Maroons won five individual events and all three relays.

Miguel Lopez finished first in both the 100m dash (12.3) and 200m dash (25.7) while Ethan Rielly took first in the 400m dash (56.4), Alex Haines crossed first in the 800m run (2:17.5), and Christian Dott had the best high jump (5-6).

Jim Vasile, Haines, Josh Cuddy and Eric Anseth combined to win the 4x800m relay (9:01.7), Quashar Bowman, Tyheem Bowman, Dotts and Lopez teamed up to claim the 4x100m relay (48.1). The Maroons also won the 4x400m relay (3:49.8).
