Four Cayuga County area athletes competed at the New York State Public High School Athletic Association indoor track meet at the Ocean Breeze Athletic Complex on Long Island Saturday.

Weedsport's Steven Gilfus placed 13th in the pole vault with a height of 13-6.

Union Springs senior Flynn Anderson placed 25th in the 55 meter hurdles (8.29), while classmate Eric Ryan and the Section IV distance medley team came in 10th (9:21.58).

On the girls side, Skaneateles senior Mia Grasso came in 21st in the 300 meter dash (41.88).


Onondaga Community College topped Columbia-Greene 97-80 at Finger Lakes Community College to win the NCJAA Region 3 championship Sunday.

Skaneateles native Shannon Foehl finished with 10 points, six rebounds and three assists.

Cato-Meridian graduate Payton Noeller was named to the all-tournament team. the freshman tallied six points and four assists.

The Lazers now move on to the national tournament starting March 15 in Rockford, Illinois.
