The Union Springs/Port Byron baseball team beat Moravia 10-3 on Friday in the opening game of the Cayuga County Baseball Tournament.
This Wolves will play in the finals which will be held at a later date.
Starter Zach Nickerson earned the win as he went five innings, allowed two earned runs, two hits and two walks with eight strikeouts.
Brandon Relfe pitched the final two innings, allowing and earned run and three hits with four strikeouts.
Ryan Bailey paced the Wolves' offense with a pair of hits, a run, a pair of RBIs and two stolen bases. Kyle Bailey had a hit, two RBIs and a stolen base. Ben Longyear added a hit and scored a pair of runs.
Gavin Stayton threw 4 2/3 innings of relief for the Blue Devils and was charged with one run and two hits against. He also went 2-for-3 at the plate with a RBI and stolen base. Kaleb Stayton finished 2-for-4 with a double and two runs, Colin Damico recorded one hit and one RBI, and Jack Fedrizzi chipped in with one RBI.
Union Springs/Port Byron is 4-0-1 and next plays Lansing at home on Monday. Moravia plays at Groton on Monday.
Moravia 7, Spencer-Van Etten 1: Kaelyn Stanton paced the Blue Devils with a two-run homer.
Chloe McNabb also homered as Maddie Funk tossed a two-hitter with 12 strikeouts. Moravia is now 2-2 and plays at Groton on Monday.
Cato-Meridian 18, Bishop Ludden 3: Michayla Giacolone had three hits with three runs and a pair of RBIs to lead the Blue Devils. Jailynn Evans had a three-run double.
Jacey Phillips had a pair of hits and three RBIs, Olivia Ford added a pair of hits and scored a pair of runs and Breanna Lee had two hits, two RBIs with a pair of runs.
Mya Ae was the winning pitcher with a six-hitter with four strikeouts.
Auburn 225, East Syracuse-Minoa Blue 238: Senior Lindsay May led the Maroons with a 37 and Sam Lesch added a 55.
Rounding out Auburn's scoring was Sophie Lesch with a 64 and Emily Botindari with a 69.
Auburn is 1-0 in league play and overall and travels to Jamesville-DeWitt on Thursday.
Auburn 6, East Syracuse-Minoa 1: The Maroons swept singles to win their first match of the season.
Winners for Auburn included William Clark at first singles, 6-1, 6-1; Connor Davia at second singles, 6-1, 6-2; Jacob Wansor at third singles, 6-2, 6-3 and Nate Wawro at fourth singles, 6-3, 6-2.
The Maroons' first doubles team of Jack Boyd and Gabriel Burns swept 6-0, 6-0 and the third doubles team of Andrew Giannettino and Quinn Hukee won by forfeit, 6-0, 6-0.
Tully 15, Jordan-Elbridge 2: Luke Pinckney and Cole Mullen each scored a goal for the Eagles. Deacon Hill added an assist.
Steve Tripp made 19 saves in goal. Jordan-Elbridge is 3-5 on the season.
