Senior Nick Valentino delivered 19 points, four rebounds, four assists and five steals as the Union Springs boys basketball team picked up its first win of the season, topping Odessa-Montour 64-51 on Friday.

Valentino was one of three players to reach double digits in scoring, as Kevin Cunningham notched 16 points while Connor DeChick added 13 points.

Union Springs (1-1) travels to Groton on Tuesday.

Moravia 57, Spencer-Van Etten 52: The Blue Devils nabbed their second win, led by an 18-point performance from Kaleb Stayton.

Carter Flick added 10 points while Gavin Stayton finished with eight. 

Moravia (2-0) faces Whitney Point on Tuesday. 

GIRLS BASKETBALL

Candor 59, Southern Cayuga 55: The Chiefs fell behind by as much as 22 points in the second quarter and their rally in the second half came up short.

Catie Kopp recorded 29 points to pace Southern Cayuga, with Aimee Kreydatus and Brooke Walter both finishing with seven points.

The Chiefs (0-1) are at Marathon Tuesday.

VOLLEYBALL

Port Byron 3, Pulaski 0: The Panthers picked up a sweep, winning their games 25-22, 25-15, 25-13.

Olivia Martens filled out the scoresheet with four aces, 12 assists and 10 digs, while Nadia Edley recorded a team-high eight kills to go with a block and four digs. Alli Ryan was credited with six kills and three aces, Emily Ryan had five kills, Rileigh Gray finished with two aces and Chelsea Rooker chipped in with one ace and two assists.

Port Byron returns to action Monday against CBA.

BOYS SWIMMING

Oswego 77, Auburn 66: The Maroons won three individual events and two relays in the loss.

Sam Carbonaro finished first in both the 200 freestyle (1:57.08) and 100 freestyle (52.44), while Michael Villano touched the wall first in the 200 individual medley (2:33.15).

In the 200 freestyle relay, Matthias Ballard, Villano, Connor McMillan and Carbonaro posted the best time at 1:48.40. Carbonaro, Ethan Hickman, Mathew Whiting and Ballard combined to take the top spot in the 400 freestyle relay with a time of 4:23.32.

BOYS HOCKEY

Skaneateles 4, Ithaca 3: The Lakers scored twice in the first period and twice in the second, and it was enough to hold off the Little Red.

Matt Leveroni netted a pair of goals and was also credited with an assist for Skaneateles, while Luke Lynn (assist) and Colin Weeks also scored. Charlie Russell dished out two assists, and Ryan Gick, Charlie Major and Owen Van Holtz each picked up one helper.

In net, goalie Chris Falso made 17 saves for the win.

Skaneateles (1-2) travels to Oswego on Tuesday.
