Lily Buchholz bettered her own record at the Section III state qualifier meet at Nottingham High School Sunday.
The Skaneateles sophomore won the 100 backstroke with a time of 1:00.51, which breaks her own record she set for the Lakers' program and all of Section III, Class C on Friday at the class meet.
Buchholz also placed third in the 100 freestyle with a time of 54.63. Buchholz already earned a spot at the New York State Public High School Athletic Association meet at Ithaca College on Nov. 17 by getting a cut time of 53.86 on Friday.
“I’ve been working really hard for this,” Buchholz said of making it to states on Friday. “It was my goal last year and I just missed it. This whole year I’ve been working for it, so it’s nice to get it.”
Auburn's Kennedy Wilson was the runner-up in the 50 freestyle (25.14) and placed sixth in the 100 freestyle (55.77)
The Maroons' Maura Moochler, Sydney Murinka, Claire Alexander and Wilson placed third in the 200 medley relay (1:54.64) and the 200 freestyle relay (1:43.05)
Alexander was also seventh in the 200 freestyle (2:02.87).
