Technical Director of Municipal Utilities Job Opening City of Auburn, New York Ideal Candidate: The City of Auburn is seeking a qualified, experienced municipal utility professional, who will function effectively in a fast paced environment, to fill the role of Technical Director of Municipal Utilities. The Candidate must be well organized and adaptable, and possess a high degree of aptitude with effective communication, technology, water and sewer project management, grant management, and sewer and water operations. The ideal candidate will be able to communicate complex concepts effectively with peers, supervisors, elected officials, and the public. The position of Technical Director of Municipal Utilities is a supervisory position; candidates should have experience in leadership, supervision, and discipline. Compensation: This position’s salary is $79,894- $95,723 DOE. Minimum qualifications: Either: (a) Graduation from a regionally accredited college or university or one accredited by the New York State Board of Regents to grant degrees with a Master’s degree in environmental or civil engineering, biology, or chemistry, or a related field and four (4) years of experience in engineering, water and/or sewer operations, capital project management or related field; (b) Graduation from a regionally accredited college or university or one accredited by the New York State Board of Regents to grant degrees with a Bachelor’s degree in environmental/ civil engineering, chemistry, biology, or a related field and six (6) years of experience as defined by the limits outlined in (a); or (c) Graduation from a regionally accredited college or university or one accredited by the New York State Board of Regents to grant degrees with an Associate’s degree in environmental science, engineering or related field with eight (8) years of experience as defined by the limits outlined in (a); or (d) An equivalent combination or training and experience as defined by the limits outlined in (a), (b)and (c) above. Preferred Qualifications Include: Municipal Utility Experience with a strong background in municipal grant delivery and project management is preferred. Incumbent with current NYS Professional Engineering License and/or Water/Wastewater Operator License is preferred.
