Assisting families with kindness and compassion

Honoring 100 years of dignified service
As our family acknowledges one hundred years of service to this great
community we want to thank you for your continued support. We are humbled
by the generations of families that have called upon us to walk with them through
confusion, saddest and despair onto the pathways of clarity, acceptance and
serenity. As we take a step back in time, we hear the echos of the funeral director
oath that was once said by four generations. We take a moment to understand
the intimacy of death, the many faces of grief and the continued dedication to
helping others at time of pain and sorrow.
THE FUNERAL SERVICE OATH

I do solemnly swear by that which I hold most sacred; That I shall be loyal to the Funeral Service Profession,
and just and generous to its members;
That I shall not let the constant relationship and familiarity with death give me cause to yield to carelessness or to
violate my obligation to society or to the dignity of my profession.
That I shall obey the Civil Laws;
That I shall not divulge professional confidences;
And that I shall be faithful to those who have placed their trust in me.
While I continue to keep this oath inviolate, may it be granted to me to enjoy honor in my life and in my profession;
and may I be respected by all people for all time.

Honoring the legacy of Frederick Harris and Elizabeth May Langham
which began on April 1, 1921
Frederick and Elizabeth Langham founded
Langham Funeral Home in 1921. Working
along side her husband, Elizabeth was one of
New York State’s first female funeral directors
and embalmers. In 1928, their son, R. Meredith
Langham joined the family business and was
followed by his son John A. Langham, who retired
after serving the community for over 45 years.
