Frederick (Pete) and Judy (Smith) Kilborne, of Auburn, celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary at a party for family and friends at Lasca's Restaurant.
The couple were married April 6, 1968 at St. Luke's United Church of Christ, the same church where Judy was baptized. They have been active for the last 50 years in the life of the church, serving on various committees and organizations.
Mr. Kilborne served in the U.S. Navy from 1961 to 1966, and upon discharge was employed for five years at Metropolitan Life Insurance Co., where he met Judy, who was also employed at Metropolitan for 15 years. He left Metropolitan after 5 years of service and retired from New Process Gear in Syracuse after 30 years of service.
Mrs. Kilborne left Metropolitan after adopting their first son. Two years later, they adopted a second son. When both boys were in school, she went back to work part-time at Seymour Library, retiring in 2008 after 28 years of service.
They love to travel and have visited all 50 states. Pete does woodcarving, wood burning, sketching and painting. Judy likes to do crafts, crocheting, knitting, baking and cooking.
Their family includes son Rick and his wife, Lori, of Liverpool; son Carl and his wife, Tammy, of New Hartford; grandson Brett and his fiance, Casey Cole, of Rome; and grandson Gage and granddaughter Hayden, both of New Hartford.
