Kevin Spacey's F-bomb may have been the biggest story of his Golden Globes acceptance speech everywhere else — but not in Auburn.
Here, it was native son Matt DelPiano's name coming up amid the many Spacey thanked Sunday as he held his newly won award for Best Actor in a TV Series — Drama for his role as scheming politician Francis Underwood on Netflix' "House of Cards."
DelPiano, who works as an agent to Spacey, Alec Baldwin and several more through Creative Artists Agency, was happy to hear his name come up, he said in an email Monday.
"Was very excited about the Spacey win," he said. "It was very nice of him to thank me."
The star was off to a movie shoot shortly after the Golden Globes, but met DelPiano en route for champagne, the agent said.
Meanwhile, DelPiano is looking forward to more big things in his clients' futures. He also represents Ryan Guzman, whom DelPiano believes could become a breakout star with his role opposite Jennifer Lopez in the Jan. 23 thriller "The Boy Next Door."
DelPiano is also enjoying his status as an associate member of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, which he was selected to join in June.
"Of course it’s a privilege to be a member, and it’s something I hope will be a source of pride for my kids one day," he said.
As an agent, DelPiano is not allowed to vote on the Academy Awards, he said. Considering the talents of his clients, however, they might not need the help.
