A Finger Lakes casino has partnered with a leading daily fantasy sports website to provide sports betting once New York finalizes regulations.

The agreement between del Lago Resort & Casino and DraftKings would allow the latter to provide a sportsbook at the Seneca County casino. The companies would partner on an online sports betting option if the state permits that form of wagering.

"New York is one of the largest revenue opportunities for future sports wagering operators and we are thrilled to partner with del Lago Resort & Casino to offer sports fans a unique and novel sports betting experience, both at a physical sportsbook and on mobile when permitted," DraftKings CEO Jason Robins said in a statement.

A Supreme Court ruling in May cleared the way for New York and other states, including New Jersey, to allow sports betting. Lawmakers in New York discussed legislation that would permit sports wagering, but no agreement was reached before the end of session in June.

The bill proposed by New York legislators would allow sports betting at del Lago and three other commercial casinos: Resorts World Catskills in Sullivan County; Rivers Casino & Resort in Schenectady; and Tioga Downs Casino in Tioga County.

The casinos view sports betting as a way to boost revenues after falling short of projections in their first year. Del Lago's first-year revenue was about $100 million short of its projection.

Tioga Downs has already announced an agreement with the FanDuel Group to provide sports betting. Resorts World Catskills and Rivers Casino have said they are prepared to offer sports wagering.

Brent Stevens, co-chairman of del Lago Resort & Casino and CEO of Peninsula Pacific, said the agreement with DraftKings "represents a tremendous move forward" for the Finger Lakes casino.

"Our partnership with DraftKings combines one of the most recognizable brands in sports with the top resort and casino brand in New York and represents an incredibly important moment for gaming in the upstate region," Stevens said. "We look forward to working closely with DraftKings to create a dynamic, engaging and innovative sports betting experience for New Yorkers."

DraftKings began developing its sportsbook last year after the Supreme Court decided to hear the sports betting case. Del Lago is the second casino the company has reached an agreement with to offer sports betting. It will operate online sports betting for Resorts Casino Hotel in Atlantic City, New Jersey.

In addition to its agreement with the casino, DraftKings plans to offer mobile and online sports betting in New Jersey by the beginning of the 2018 NFL season.
