A big name in country music will make his first appearance at the New York State Fair this summer.

Hunter Hayes, a Grammy-nominated artist who won favorite male country artist at the 2015 People's Choice Awards, will perform 8 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 26, at Chevy Court. The concert is free with fair admission.

Hayes' self-titled, multi-platinum debut album was released in 2011. The album featured some of his best hits, including "Somebody's Heartbreak" and "Wanted" — both of which were No. 1 singles.

His latest song, "Rescue," was released last year. The song led to his $100,000 donation to renovate the music room at the Nashville School of the Arts.

He has earned several accolades during his young career. He won two American Country Awards for single by a new artist and music video by a artist in 2012 for his hit song, "Wanted." He was twice recognized, in 2012 and 2014, as the choice male country artist at the Teen Choice Awards. He also won new artist of the year at the Country Music Association Awards in 2012.

He received five Grammy nominations, including best new artist and best country album.

"Hunter Hayes is clearly one of the shining young stars of country music and we could not be happier that we've managed to bring him to upstate New York," said Troy Waffner, the fair's acting director. "We're assembling a top-class lineup of music for the Chevy Court stage this year and I know this is one show that will bring a lot of people to the fairgrounds."

The fair has already announced three other Chevy Court concerts. Peter Noone of Herman's Hermits will perform at 2 p.m. Monday, Aug. 27. Smokey Robinson will take the stage at 8 p.m. Monday, Aug. 27. Lil Yachty is set to perform at 8 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 29.

The fair runs from Aug. 22 through Sept. 3.
