Gov. Andrew Cuomo has proposed a third round of funding for the regional economic development councils in his 2013-14 executive budget.
Cuomo proposes $150 million in capital funding for the regional councils and $70 million in tax credits — the same funding levels as last year's competition. More state funding will be available from various state agencies through the consolidated funding application, or CFA, process.
The Central New York Regional Economic Development Council won a best plan award in 2011 and top performer award in 2012.
In 2011, the region received $103.7 million for 74 projects. Last year, the council received $93.8 million for 73 projects.
The council covers five counties in central New York, including Cayuga County.
