The Diana Jacobs Band will debut its new album of originals, "Good Metticine," as well as its new horn section, Next Level Horns, at a release party from 7 to 11 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 30, at the Holiday Inn, 75 North St., Auburn.
The new album, a project that spanned three years, was recorded at Moletrax Studio in Syracuse. The band features Diana Jacobs on vocals, Mettis Jacobs on guitar and vocals, Sue Ferlenda on backing vocals, Mike Burns on bass, Dave Kuykendall on guitar and Dave Chitambar on drums. Joining them in Next Level Horns are Nick Moses on trumpet, Ken Foster on saxophone and Rob Sherwood on trombone.
As music licensing companies crack down on local concert venues in the form of annual fees, …
Modus Operandi will open the show.
The show is also the first in a new series by Jacobs' CNY Live & Original platform showcasing original local music through album release parties. She started the series last year as a month-long series of concerts featuring local music. In an email, Jacobs said she hopes the new series will promote local releases and possibly raise funds for bands that have written music but lack the budget to record it. She mentioned Modus Operandi as an example.
"We have an incredible talent pool in this area, and these artists are creating some wonderful music," Jacobs said. "This music is an artistic product of our community that should be recognized and celebrated. As the Finger Lakes region has its wines, central New York certainly has its music."
Tickets to the release party are $15 and include food and a copy of the new album. Donations for disaster relief bucket collection by Fleming Federated Church will also be accepted (visit umcor.org for a list of accepted items).
