Cato-Meridian students will go "Under the Sea" this weekend when they present the Disney musical "The Little Mermaid."

Like the 1989 movie, the musical tells the story of the rebellious mermaid Ariel, who's fascinated by life on land.

The musical is directed by Lisa Byrne, who said in a news release that it will feature lighting and other visual effects to depict the underwater setting.

"The most exciting aspect of putting this show on will be the little kids," she said in the release. "Having the ability to bring something so beloved as ‘The Little Mermaid’ to life in front of their eyes ... well that’s a pretty magical thing."

Performance times are 7 p.m. Friday and Saturday, March 8 and 9, and 2 p.m. Sunday, March 10, in the auditorium of Cato-Meridian Middle School, 2851 Route 370, Cato.

Tickets are $10 for adults and $8 for senior citizens and children younger than 10.
