Lindsey Stirling, an award-winning violinist who mixes dancing with her performances, is going to make her New York State Fair debut this summer.
Stirling's concert at Chevy Court is scheduled for 8 p.m. Friday, Aug. 23. The show will be free with fair admission.
Stirling rose to prominence on YouTube and released her first album, which was self-titled, in 2012. She has since released three more studio albums.
She has received several award nominations. She is a two-time winner of the Billboard Music Awards' top dance/electronic album. In 2015, she won artist of the year at the annual YouTube Music Awards.
"This is a very special performance on our calendar this year," Fair Director Troy Waffner said. "Lindsey Stirling's wonderful music defies simple labels, but her dedication to music and dance during her shows is second to none. This will be one of the highlights of our season and fans of any kind of music should be here for this one-of-a-kind show."
In 2017, Stirling was a contestant on the 25th season of "Dancing With The Stars." Together with her partner, Mark Ballas, they finished in the runner-up position.
Stirling is the fifth act announced for the fair's Chevy Court lineup. She joins Bad Company, Dropkick Murphys, Midland and Why Don't We.
The fair announced this week that Rick Springfield will perform at the New YOrk Experience Stage. That concert is planned for 7 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 31.
The fair will run from Aug. 21 through Sept. 2.
