Becky Lynch battles Charlotte Flair for the Smackdown Women's Championship at WWE Evolution.

I've already written that 2018 was maybe WWE's weirdest year in awhile, if not ever.

I won't rehash the reasons. But I will say that when it came to the quality of its wrestling, 2018 wasn't a weird year for WWE, just an exemplary one.

In fact, that weirdness was responsible for many of my top 20 matches of the year: Former MMA superstar Ronda Rousey, whose debut with the pro wrestling company last January is still sort of unbelievable, appears a couple times on this list. As does Daniel Bryan, who made the comeback WWE fans thought they'd never see when doctors cleared him in the spring. And if you told me at the beginning of the year that Charlotte would notch the most contenders for "match of the year," more than AJ Styles or Roman Reigns, I'd have whacked myself with a kendo stick.

So it may be wild how we got them, but we got them. Here are my top 20 WWE matches of 2018:
