Christmas is almost here, and the holiday events around the Cayuga County area are piled up like gifts under the tree.

Here are all the events we know are happening:

❆ Sixth annual Festival of Trees

WHAT: Showcase of trees decorated by community individuals and organizations

WHAT: Free photos with Santa, themed crafts and more

❆ 25th annual Dickens Christmas

WHAT: Characters like Queen Victoria, Charles Dickens and Ebenezer Scrooge interact with each other and passersby in an open-air 1842 setting. Highlights include Christmas carol singalongs at 2 p.m. every day at the village gazebo, "A Christmas Carol" trunk shows at 12:30 p.m. at the gazebo and 3 p.m. at the Skaneateles Library every day (3:30 p.m. Dec. 15-16), horse-drawn wagon ($2) and carriage ($20) rides around the village, and free refreshments that include roasted chestnuts, warm Christmas pudding at Mid-Lakes Navigation (for a donation to the food pantry) and eggnog served by Girl Scouts (Saturdays only).

WHAT: Linda D'Amato will give all donations to the Friends of Weedsport Library.

❆ Candlelight Tours

WHAT: Holiday pageant in which costumed guides lead candlelit tours of the home, which is decorated for the 19th century, while actors portray members of the Seward family and share stories of holiday memories from their letters and diaries. Followed by caroling around the family's 1872 Steinway piano.

❆ Ecumenical Christmas Pageant

WHAT: Re-enactment of the Advent message with shepherds and herds of domestic animals, regal kings and their entourages, Mary and Joseph, and Jesus and a cloud of angels.
