We have arrived at the holiday season! I trust you’ve been able to use the gift of your local library this year. If you are looking for great holiday gift ideas, the Weedsport Free Library can help you with that detail, too. Looking for the perfect stocking stuffer? We have custom engraved metal bookmarks, $4 each, library sticky notepads for $1 and imprinted zipping earbuds at $8 per pair.
Looking for the perfect gift for someone who loves to cook? There are still plenty of copies of “Everybody’s Cookbook” for sale. The cookbook is a true taste of community recipes blended with the artwork of Weedsport artist Chris Baker and priced at $15 each. Are you looking for the perfect lasting legacy gift? Give the gift of an engraved brick! The library brick garden continues to grow! You can order a brick for Christmas; installation will be in summer of 2019. Gift cards are available upon request. Brick engravings can range from favorite quotes to honor/bereavement bricks, family bricks, business bricks or pet bricks. Brick prices range from $50 to $100.
The Friends of Weedsport Free Library have two awesome tote bag styles available. The library’s new logo, the book tree, looks amazing on both bags. The zippered cotton tote bag is $12, tax included, and the polyester zippered tote bag with pockets is $15, tax included. If you can’t decide which bag to buy, we are selling two for $25! All proceeds benefit the Friends group and the wonderful ways they enhance your library service.
The Friends will have a table at the Weedsport APT Craft/Vendor Show, the Weedsport Winter Festival, to be held at the Weedsport Jr.-Sr. High School from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 8. Come on out, do some shopping and have some fun! All of the library raffle prizes will be on display and we will draw the holiday raffle winners at the end of the craft show. The raffle prizes are amazing! You get to pick which prize you would like to win. Choose from a lottery ticket tree, a "Paw Patrol" gift basket, a Shopkins gift basket, a soft surroundings pamper gift basket, a Grinchland gift basket, a one-hour photo session with TJ Photographie, a hair care products gift basket from Smith & Co. Salon and a library lover’s gift basket. The prizes are currently on display at the library. Tickets are available at the library now or at the craft show on Dec. 8. While you are at the craft show, look for the library board of trustees table. They will be selling “like new” books at great prices!
The fall Story Hour sessions will conclude Dec. 18-20. Winter Story Hour programs will begin the week of Jan. 8. Preschool Story Hour is 10:15 to 11 a.m. Tuesdays and Wednesdays. These programs are for ages 3-5 years old and include stories, songs and crafts. Toddler Rhyme Time is 10:30 to 11 a.m. Thursdays. This program includes stories, finger plays and songs.
The Family Cinema for December will feature the movie “Christopher Robin.” This movie is timeless so we are opening it up to not only senior citizens but families as well. Unwind a bit from the holiday hubbub and enjoy this newly released movie at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 26.
Lego Club will meet from 1 to 2 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 27. Kids are invited to come for some Lego fun during school vacation week. Legos are provided and no registration is required.
