The Cayuga County Health Department’s Bicycle, Pedestrian and Wheel Sport Safety program in collaboration with the Cayuga Community Health Network is hosting the third annual ReBike Cayuga event. The community can help this cause by donating any unused bicycles, which will be tuned up and ready to sell at low cost. Bicycles of all sizes will be collected from local law enforcement agencies for the June 8 event at Casey Park Arena from 9 to 11 a.m. Bicycle donation drop-off day will be noon to 6 p.m. Friday, June 7, at Casey Park Arena. Individuals donating bicycles will be given a tax donation receipt for each bicycle donated.
If you’re doing some spring cleaning or organizing your garage, now is the perfect time to recycle any old bicycles you may not have used in a while. By donating your old bicycle, you are giving it a new purpose for a new owner. All donated bicycles will be reconditioned, priced to sell and ready to ride off the lot the day of the event. Space will be provided to test drive the bicycles for those interested in purchasing one.
A bicycle safety rodeo will be conducted from 9 to 11 a.m. for children ages 5-13 to learn the rules of the road. Free bicycle helmets will be provided to all rodeo participants. You don’t have to buy a bicycle to take participate in the bicycle rodeo!
You have free articles remaining.
Last year’s ReBike proceeds from the donated bicycles were used to purchase bike helmets and cover the cost of the event.
Casey Park Arena is located at 150 No. Division St. in Auburn behind Falcon Park. We hope to see you there, whether you’re donating, purchasing a bicycle or participating in the bicycle safety rodeo!
