Cayuga County tire collection event scheduled for June

Cayuga County Soil & Conservation District

More than 3,700 tires were collected for recycling at the 2014 collection event at the Cayuga County Soil & Conservation District. At least 210 deliveries were made that day, and 36 pounds of lead removed from rims. The county has been holding the event since 2003, and recycled about 80,000 tires since then.

A Cayuga County Tire Round-Up will take place from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, June 23, at the Natural Resource Center, 7413 County House Road, Sennett.

Up to 40 tires per household, on- and off-rim, will be accepted. The recycling fee is $1.50 per tire up to 30 inches, and $5 per tire 31 to 36 inches.
