Every Friday, The Citizen features a pet available for adoption from the Finger Lakes SPCA of Central New York.
This week, we spotlight Carlos.
Q: Who is your best friend?
A: Have you ever heard of our office manager, Sabrina? She is a very famous and nice lady cat who began her life as a feral cat, but over the years she has mellowed out. She has the run of the front office and sometimes she can be very bossy. Anyway, I see Sabrina on a daily basis through my window and even though she probably doesn't know it, she is my BFF. I love her.
Q: What has been your worst experience?
A: I really can't recall anything worst happening to me. I came here when I was a very little kitten and my shelter people have been kind to me and protected me from worst things. So, I'm sorry, but I can't really answer your question.
Q: If you could describe yourself, what would you say?
A: For starters, I am really intense! Look at that picture. When I'm not being intense, I turn on my kitten side and am playful and sweet. I love to be scratched behind my ears. I also get along with most of the other guys in my room, but they have to work to gain my friendship. I am an all-around nice, handsome, pleasant, smart cat, and you need to take me home — right now!
Q: If you could visit any place in the world, where would that be?
A: I'm not sure I would make a very good traveler. I get airsick when my shelter people move my rolling condo around. I'll stay put, thank you very much.
Q: Do you have an interesting fact to share?
A: I do! Please be careful about what you feed your family felines! Cats can become addicted to tuna and refuse to eat anything else. They are known as "tuna junkies." Also, just for levity, the first cloned cat was named "CC," which is short for "carbon copy." These are facts, my friends!
Q: If you could meet someone famous, who would that be?
A: Well, it's that time of year, and I would like to have met the ever-popular Cupid! In classical mythology, Cupid is the god of desire, erotic love, attraction and affection. He is often portrayed as the son of the love goddess, Venus, and the war god, Mars. He is also known in Latin as Amor ("Love"). Yes, Cupid would be a good choice right now — he can spread the love!
Q: Do you have any advice for our good Citizen readers?
A: I do! I want to tell our good Citizen readers about an upcoming adoption special that you just can't miss. Since our shelter is closed on Valentine's Day, our "Adopt the Next Love of Your Life" adoption special will be held on Saturday and Sunday, Feb. 16 and 17. All cats will be available for adoption for half of the normal adoption fee! That includes all up-to-date vaccinations, testing, treatments and spay or neuter surgery. This is a deal that you just can't pass up. So stop by next weekend to find the next love of your life! Thank you and love, Carlos and friends.
