Six Cayuga County youths formed the first Selective Service contingent of the new year. The group assembled at the Federal Building this morning for a brief ceremony conducted by Donald R. Ward Post 1259, American Legion, Cayuga, James D. Sproull, commander.

The contingent was composed of: Anthony V. Gallaro, 7 Washington St.; William F. Smith, RD 2, Port Byron; Gordon A. Hetherington, 46 Fitch Ave.; Edward K. Wills, 142 Franklin St.; Michael J. Bixby, RD 1, Cayuga; David W. Emig, 329 N. Seward Ave. 

Master of ceremonies was Albert T. DeRoose, former county Legion commander. The Rev. George R. Combs of Union Springs, the Rev. Leon L. Miles, Kenneth A. Fritz and George E. Eisele also took part. Mr. Fritz and Mrs. Eisele represented the Gideon Society. The group later boarded a bus for Syracuse.
