There are several farmers markets in Cayuga County, and starting June 8, another one will be added to the list.
The New York State Equal Rights Heritage Center will host the Taste NY Auburn Regional Market from June until the end of October. The weekly market will feature a "good mix" of vendors, artisans and entertainment from Cayuga County, Seneca Falls and Syracuse, said Courtney Rae Kasper, the center's visitor experience manager.
At least 12 vendors will be present at the regional market's opening day, including Zera Farm, Boo Radley's Garden and House of Honey. Kasper said the market is still accepting applications for more vendors. Also on June 8, family yoga will be led by Christine Bartolotta from 10 to 11 a.m., and Xarika, a singer-songwriter from central New York, will perform from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
The market will mostly be held outside of the ERHC rain or shine (with the exception of thunderstorms), including children's activities like face painting, arts activities and magic shows.
The regional market will "offer something in downtown Auburn for families to come and enjoy," Kasper said.
She added that the market's attendance should grow as the season goes on, and that the market is meant to complement other markets in the area, which will be promoted at the ERHC.
