Just in time for "Avengers: Endgame" and all the summer blockbusters to follow, the Auburn Movieplex 10 has finished installing 1,000 new plush luxury seats in its theaters.
The installation was complete by the end of March. All 10 theaters have the new seats, which were made by Atom Seating, of Georgia. The seats in the first two or three rows of each theater also recline, and have footrests.
Jason Yantz, of Movieplex owner Rochester Theatre Management, said Monday that the multiplex lost about 30 percent of its seating capacity due to the size of the new seats. The floors at the Movieplex have also been repainted, Yantz said.
The multiplex did not have to close to install the seats, as it staggered the process by theater. No ticket price increases are anticipated as a result of the new seats.Â

"I know we had a bad reputation, but that's all been resolved," Yantz said. "We hope Auburn enjoys the upgrade."
