National Night Out Block Party 6

The Auburn Police Department hosts a National Night Out block party at Hoopes Park in 2018.

This summer will see the city of Auburn's annual live music series grow with events at the new Equal Rights Heritage Center and the recently renovated Falcon Park.

Along with weekly concerts at city parks and the monthly Music on the Mall series, highlights of the schedule include the City Sizzlin' Summer Kick-Off June 22 and the annual Harriet Tubman Freedom Music Festival July 13, both at the heritage center; a concert atop the Auburn parking garage July 17; Founder's Day in downtown Auburn Aug. 10 and a concert at Falcon Park that night featuring the Edgar Winter Band; and TomatoFest downtown Sept. 7.

"We all value the quality of life that we have in Auburn and summer events in our parks offer fun for all," Mayor Michael Quill said in a news release. "This year we have programmed more music and movies thanks to generous contributions from sponsors. We will have events at parks this summer throughout the city and hope that our residents will take advantage of all the summer fun."

Along with those events, the Downtown Auburn Saturday Market will take place from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturdays through Oct. 26 at the heritage center, 25 South St., Auburn. Meanwhile, the city noted, the Auburn Doubledays begin their season June 16, and the Casey Park pool at 150 N. Division St. will be open June 22 through Aug. 24.
