26th Wine & Herb Festival

Several Cayuga County-area wineries and one distillery took medals at the 19th annual Finger Lakes Wine International Wine Competition held in April in Rochester.

More than 2,800 wines from more than 450 wineries in 42 states and 16 countries were entered into the competition. They were evaluated by a panel of 54 judges (27 men and 27 women) representing distributors, educators, sommeliers, restaurateurs, winemakers and writers from all over the world. 

Local winners were:

• Bright Leaf Vineyard in King Ferry, bronze in Chardonnay for its 2017 Reserve Chardonnay

• Colloca Estate Winery in Fair Haven, silver in Pinot Noir for its 2017 Pinot Noir

• Colloca Estate Winery in Fair Haven, silver in Chardonnay for its 2017 Chardonnay

• Colloca Estate Winery in Fair Haven, bronze in Chardonnay for its 2017 Reserve Chardonnay 

• Colloca Estate Winery in Fair Haven, bronze in Fruit Sparkling for its Mindy's Giggle Juice

• Colloca Estate Winery in Fair Haven, silver in Riesling: Semi-Dry for its 2017 Riesling

• Colloca Estate Winery in Fair Haven, silver in Riesling: Sweet for its 2017 Dolce Riesling

• Colloca Estate Winery in Fair Haven, bronze in Riesling: Dry for its 2017 Dry Riesling

• Last Shot Distillery in Skaneateles, gold in Whiskey: American: Blended for its Skaneateles Whiskey

• Last Shot Distillery in Skaneateles, silver in Whiskey: American: Bourbon for its Bourbon Whiskey

• Last Shot Distillery in Skaneateles, silver in Whiskey: American: Blended for its Lightening Whiskey

• Last Shot Distillery in Skaneateles, bronze in Vodka for its Vodka

• Last Shot Distillery in Skaneateles, bronze in Liqueurs: Other for its Last Shot Sweet Maple

• Long Point Winery in Ledyard, silver in Riesling: Semi-Sweet for its 2017 Sweet Lissy Semi-Sweet

• Montezuma Winery & Hidden Marsh Distillery in Montezuma, silver in Cabernet Franc for its 2014 Cabernet Franc

• Montezuma Winery & Hidden Marsh Distillery in Montezuma, silver in Apple for its 11en Delicious

• Montezuma Winery & Hidden Marsh Distillery in Montezuma, bronze in Riesling: Semi-Dry for its 2017 Semi-Dry Riesling
