An Oneida County farm's chocolate milk distributed in Cayuga County is being voluntarily recalled due to improper pasteurization, the state Department of Agriculture and Markets announced Friday.

The pasteurized creamline chocolate milk being recalled is made by Stoltzfus Family Dairy, 6300 Skinner Road, Vernon Center, according to a press release. The press release said the discovery was made due to a routine department inspection. Milk that has been properly pasteurized is heated to eliminate pathogenic bacteria such as salmonella and listeria.

The press release said no illnesses related to the milk have been reported to the department. The milk had also been distributed in Onondaga and Seneca counties, among others. The milk was sold under the name Stoltzfus Family Dairy in plastic 12 ounce, quart, half gallon and gallon containers with the container codes of 8-16-18 and 8-24-18. Those with questions about the milk should contact Vern Stoltzfus at 315-796-9264.
