The upcoming Christmas and New Year's holidays will affect the city of Auburn's trash pickup schedule over the next two weeks.

There will be no trash picked up on Dec. 25 or Jan. 1, both Fridays this year. Instead, Auburn residents can expect their trash picked up one day earlier than usual, according to the city.

For example, if a home's trash is picked up on Tuesday, it will instead be picked up on Monday, and so on. This will be in effect through the weeks starting Dec. 20 and Dec. 27.

The holidays will also impact upcoming Auburn City Council meetings. Councilors will instead meet at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 22 in lieu of Christmas.

A special meeting will later be held at noon on Friday, Jan. 1 for the purposes of swearing in new city council members.
