An Elbridge woman died Saturday after being hit by a car on Route 5, according to the New York State Police. 

Fanny H. O'Hara, 73, attempted to cross Route 5 from the south shoulder of the road just east of Sandbank Road in the town of Elbridge when she was struck by a car. 

The driver of the vehicle, Betsy J. Marshall, 46, of Syracuse, was traveling westbound on Route 5 when she hit O'Hara. 

O'Hara was transported by ambulance to Upstate University Hospital, where she was pronounced dead. 

The state police is investigating the crash.
