The Finger Lakes Musical Theatre Festival has announced that its 2017 fundraiser, "Swing Into Summer," will take place Saturday, June 3.
The event, which will take a 1950s theme in the spirit of 2017 season opener "Guys and Dolls," will be held outside at the home of Mary and George Cuthbert. Rochester party band Nik and the Nice Guys will perform, and there will be '50s cocktails, dancing, casino tables, dinner stations, a cigar and whiskey bar, and more. Period dress is welcome.
Also at the event, the festival will announce the inaugural recipient of the Thommie Walsh Scholarship, which was launched at the festival's 2016 fundraiser. It will go to a Cayuga County student pursuing a college degree and career in musical theater.

Portions of fundraiser proceeds go to the scholarship fund, and additional donations are welcome. It was created in the memory of Walsh, an Auburn native who went on to originate the role of Bobby in "A Chorus Line" and who won two Tony and two Drama Desk awards.
