The state Department of Environmental Conservation has issued an air quality health advisory for several upstate New York counties, including Cayuga, until 10 p.m. Monday.

The advisory notes that air quality levels for ozone in outdoor air is predicted to exceed 100, which could pose health concerns for people sensitive to elevated levels of pollutants, including young children and those with heart or respiratory health problems.

These individuals are advised to limit strenuous outdoor physical activity to reduce the risk of negative health effects.

For more information about the alert, visit the state Department of Environmental Conservation's website at or call the Air Quality Hotline at (800) 535-1345.
