Owasco will be hosting an informal ceremony to officially open Cayuga County's first splash pad and pickle ball courts on Wednesday.
"We're really excited to be the first in the county to do these things," Owasco Town Supervisor Ed Wagner said.
He said the event at noon Wednesday will be a "small opening to celebrate the kickoff to summer recreational programming."
Town employees will be present, all those who financially supported the new additions were invited and around 80 children will be running around, since it is the first day the park will be available for summer youth programs, Wagner said.
"It's all about the kids and not about us," Wagner said of the low-key grand opening.

Prior to these new installments, Wagner said Owasco was also the county's "first and only fully compliant ADA (Americans with Disabilities Act) playground."
Wagner said last week the town did a test run of the splash pad and once the water was turned on "twenty kids on the playground flew to the splash pad ... they were running around, splashing, laughing."
He said he's really proud to have such a great family-oriented place. While at the farmers market, he said one woman even told him "this is our town center."
Wagner added that the town also just resurfaced the basketball court and completed the pickle ball courts. He said the town is hoping to start some pickle ball leagues this summer, expanding on the four bocce leagues already happening.
