An Auburn man was arrested Thursday night after being found with cocaine and giving false information to police, the Auburn Police Department said.
Paul B. Bovee, of 114 Norris Ave., was charged with third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, a class B felony, and false personation, a misdemeanor.
Police received reports of possible gun shots at 114 Norris Ave., and then interviewed Bovee, who gave a fake name, address and date of birth. It was determined the man was Bovee and when responders asked him if he realized he could be arrested for giving false information, he said he understood and continued to lie, police said.
Upon arrest, Bovee was found to have a white powder that later tested positive for cocaine. He was arraigned at Auburn City Court and remanded to Cayuga County Jail in lieu of $1,000 bond.
