People hit the park on shiny two-wheelers Saturday at a bicycle sale and rodeo at Casey Park in Auburn.
ReBike Cayuga, organized by the Cayuga County Health Department’s Bicycle, Pedestrian and Wheel Sport Safety program, along with the Cayuga Community Health Network, offered used bikes at reasonable prices to encourage people to get out and ride.
Used bicycles of all sizes were donated by the public and collected from local law enforcement agencies to support the event's second year.
Donated bicycles were reconditioned, priced to sell and ready to ride, and space was provided for test rides. A bicycle safety rodeo was held for children ages 5-13 to learn the rules of the road, and free helmets were provided to all rodeo participants.
According to the health department, last year’s ReBike proceeds from donated bicycles were used to purchase bike helmets and cover the cost of the event.
