Landfill

Trucks drop off garbage at the Seneca Meadows landfill June 27.

Seneca Meadows Landfill will host an open house from 12 to 4 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 21, its first in three years.

The day's events will feature guided tours of the facility, a complimentary chicken barbecue, a juggler, live falcons and children's games. Also new to this open house will be a 40-minute train ride that will include farm games for children. The train ride is offered through a partnership with the Seneca County Farm Bureau and the Finger Lakes Railway.

"This open house is a great opportunity to meet more of our community; answer their questions, listen to their thoughts and show them what we do to keep the environment safe," said Kyle Black, district manager of the landfill.

The open house will be held rain or shine, and no registration is required. For more information, call (315) 539-5624 or visit senecameadows.com.
