New York State Police engaged in a high-speed pursuit Monday night that ultimately ended outside the city of Auburn in which the status of the suspect is unknown.
The pursuit began before 8 p.m. in the village of Weedsport and headed southbound on state Route 34 toward the city. As the suspect began nearing the city, troopers terminated the pursuit due to high speeds and the danger a continued pursuit could pose to the public, state police said.

Troopers later located the suspect's vehicle unoccupied, having become disabled at some point after the pursuit's termination.
Information regarding the suspect's current whereabouts was unavailable as of late Monday night.
