The Auburn Planning Board will decide Tuesday during its monthly meeting whether or not to recommend the Auburn City Council adopt the updated zoning code.
City staff has been working with Bergmann Associates to overhaul the city's outdated code, which has not had a major update since the early 1990s. The document that will be discussed is the final draft for the zoning code. The full document can be found on the city's website, auburnny.gov.
A public hearing took place during the Nov. 2 city council meeting to gather input from residents about the code. According to a memo from Senior Planner Stephen Selvek to the planning board members, comments received regarding the following items have been reviewed and incorporated, where appropriate, into the current draft:
• Food trucks
• Notification distance
• Notification timing
• RV storage
• Heavy equipment storage
• Standard for heavy industrial uses
• Short term rentals
A final public hearing will take place at 6 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 14, during the city council meeting. The code is scheduled to be voted on for adoption by the council the following week.
