A travel advisory has been issued for northern Cayuga County, according to the sheriff's office.
A band of lake effect snow has brought cold temperatures, gusty winds and heavy snowfall to the area. Blowing snow and snow cover have created treacherous road conditions, the sheriff's office reports. Visibility is significantly reduced.

The sheriff's office also asks that you check in with elderly or vulnerable family, friends and neighbors to make sure they are prepared for the storm.
