UPDATED: The travel advisory has been lifted, the Cayuga County Sheriff's Office announced Wednesday afternoon.Â
A travel advisory has been issued for northern Cayuga County, according to the sheriff's office.Â
A band of lake effect snow has brought cold temperatures, gusty winds and heavy snowfall to the area. Blowing snow and snow cover have created treacherous road conditions, the sheriff's office reports. Visibility is significantly reduced.Â
Motorists are advised to exercise caution when traveling. The sheriff's office urges those who choose to travel to have warm clothing in case you become stranded.Â
The sheriff's office also asks that you check in with elderly or vulnerable family, friends and neighbors to make sure they are prepared for the storm.Â
