Strong winds are expected to arrive in the Cayuga County area Thursday night and persist through Friday.
The National Weather Service has issued wind advisories for northern and southern Cayuga County, along with a lakeshore flood warning for the Lake Ontario shoreline. The agency said winds could cause some property damage and power outages.
In the southern half of the county, a wind advisory has been issued from 1 to 4 a.m. Friday, with predictions of gusts up to 45 mph. The northern half of the county has a wind advisory from 6 p.m. Thursday to 6 a.m. Friday, with 50 mph gusts possible.
The strong winds have also prompted the lakeshore flood warning due to the strong waves that are expected. That warning for northern Cayuga County shoreline is in effect from 6 p.m. Thursday to 6 p.m. Friday.
