National Nurses Week is observed each year — coinciding with the May 12 birthday of Florence Nightingale — to honor the enormous contributions made by nurses each and every day. The nursing profession has evolved incredibly over the years: Today, nurses are found not only in hospitals, but wherever skilled care, wellness support and patient advocacy are needed.
One such service area is Hillside Family of Agencies, where more than 100 nurses support children and families as part of the Hillside mission. A Hillside nurse is often the first staff member that a youth or their family may encounter when receiving services. These initial interactions help to create a foundation for trusting, therapeutic relationships.
On behalf of everyone at Hillside, I salute our nurses — and every member of this proud profession — for the remarkable skill and tireless dedication they bring to their work. Improved community health is a goal that benefits everyone, and nurses play an invaluable role in achieving that goal.
