AUBURN — Alfonso Salva, 94, of Auburn, passed away Friday, April 12, 2019.
He was the son of Sebastiano and Rosaria Leanza Salva. Al was a veteran of World War II, having served with the United States Navy as an electrician. He retired after more than 40 years of employment with Auburn Armature, and also worked at his brother Tom’s grocery store, Genesee Foods on Auburn’s West End. He was a car enthusiast and enjoyed his Cadillac automobiles. Above all, Al enjoyed the time he spent with his grandchildren. He was a communicant of Holy Family Church.
He is survived by his son, John Salva; three daughters, Joanne Francis (Tim), Jeannine Larose, and Julie DiFederico (David); one sister, Rose Lamonte; five grandchildren, Nicholas, Colleen, Lisa, Nina, and Danielle; three great-grandchildren, Jason, Selena, and Kash; and several nieces and nephews.
Al was predeceased by his wife, Jeanne Larose Salva; son, James Salva; brother, Thomas Salva, and sister, Josephine Catalfano.
Friends are invited to join the family for a Mass of Christian burial at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, April 17, in Holy Family Church. Entombment with full military honors will follow in St. Joseph’s Cemetery Mausoleum. There are no calling hours.
Arrangements are by the Cheche Funeral Home Inc., 1778 Clark St. Road, Auburn.
