BALDWINSVILLE — Anthony “Tony” Spagnola, 87, formerly of Baldwinsville, passed away on Saturday, Nov. 4, 2017. He was born in Auburn, on Nov. 26, 1929, son of Angeline Almerto and Frederick Spagnola.
Tony spent his years as a young boy in Auburn, attending the Neighborhood House where he developed a love of “tinkering,” music and art. In 1955, he graduated as a watchmaker from the Bowmen Technical School in Lancaster, Pa., where he met his former wife, Lois McComsey.
While raising his family in Fairmount, N.Y., Tony enjoyed a career spanning more than 30 years in quality control management for BG Sulzle, Inc. After retiring in 1995, he enjoyed golfing, watercolor painting, SU sports and attending his grandchildren’s activities.
Tony was an honored veteran who was awarded the prestigious Bronze Star while serving in the Korean War. One of his fondest memories was traveling to Washington, D.C. with fellow veterans as part of Operation Enduring Gratitude.
Tony’s proudest achievement was his family. He is survived by four daughters, Pamela (Michael) Reilly, Kristine (Chris) Gonzalez, Susan Barni (David Marble), and Elizabeth (Benjamin) Bray; sister, Carol (Dale) Gamba; eight grandchildren, Lauren (Matt) Mumau, Kristen (Greg) Ryder, Michele Reilly, Cara and Rachel Gonzalez, Derek Spagnola, Elise and Shane Bray; a niece, nephews, and several cousins.

We will remember dad for his sense of humor and his love of chocolate, coffee and classic movies. The family extends special gratitude to the dedicated staff at Brookdale Memory Care in Fayetteville and the VA Hospital for their compassionate care.
